When we finally arrived in Bangkok, it was evening and starting to get dark, but we were still able to distinguish Thailand's landscape through the car windows.
We went from the Suvarnabhumi airport to the Convention Center, Thailand Science Park, where we had dinner. Alim, a teacher from Thailand who is originally from Turkey, introduced us to Thai culture and Thai food. After a delicious meal, we went to the Sirindhorn Science Home, Thailand Science Park, which was our accommodation. We were greeted warmly with a beautiful necklace of fresh flowers and headed to our respective rooms.
Valérie and I met our roommates: Miss Joyce and her student (from Singapore) and Amira (from Malaysia). Then we went downstairs for the Festival Orientation session for the International Participants and later came back to our room to have a good sleep!
To get to the rooms in the Sirindhorn Science Home there were 2 elevators. Valérie and I were trying to open the door that led to the elevator with our key cards but it wasn't working. As we were starting to look for a solution, a Thai staff came running to open the door with his card (which was quite nice). We thanked him and went to the 4th floor, but, we couldn't find our room (403) as there were only even numbers, and we didn't recognize anything. It seemed very strange and we thought we must be lost. It wasn't until we headed downstairs to ask someone for help that we then realized we were in the men's section, - the reason we couldn't open the door in the first place! We felt ridiculous but it was pretty funny!
